Self-Improvement – Something For Everyone

By: Jordi Shoman

Self-improvement is something that every person in the world yearns for. It has nothing to do with where you live, your age, occupation or your income. Yes, it is true that many people spend a small fortune each year on trying to improve themselves by hiring life coaches and personal trainers. However, there are many ways you can indulge in self-improvement without going to any extra expense.

Let’s take for example, the woman who finds herself gaining a little too much weight. For her, self-improvement is shedding the extra pounds and fitting back into her clothes. She can start by cutting back on the high-calorie food she eats and incorporate a walk into her daily activities. If she doesn’t want to spend extra money, then she doesn’t have to join a fitness club or a program to help her lose weight, but the option is there if she wants to take it. This applies to anyone that wants to take some action directed toward improving some aspect of his/her life.

Self-improvement can involve anything that you feel will make you feel better about your life. It could be taking a course that would lead to a hobby, if you feel bored during your leisure time. Even taking a trip to a faraway place can be a method of self-improvement because it gives you a chance to see another part of the world, learn about another culture and get some rest and relaxation at the same time.

Self-improvement is such a broad topic that it would take pages to write about all the ways you can learn from it. No matter what form of improvement you choose for your life, it will help to increase your self-image and your confidence. Just knowing that you look good with the weight you’ve lost adds something to the way you walk. Having someone compliment you on something that you have made or built as a result of a new hobby will fill you with pride. So how do you get to figure how what it is about your life that needs improving?

Self Improvement Is The Way To Happiness

By: Sandra Stammberger

Self improvement is a way in which a person makes an effort in improving his performance in various activities. Self improvement helps the person in harnessing his powers positively to achieve results. By practicing self improvement a person is able to do his tasks on time and also do them successfully. No matter what challenges a person faces at different stages of life, a self improvement program plans to make the person meet the challenges with total confidence. A person is able to bring more control and benefits to his life in various ways.

A person should follow a self improvement program which consists of basic skills to improve one’s quality of life. A self improvement program makes a person understand himself and how life works. It also builds self esteem, self respect and overall mental discipline in a person. One can find more meaning and purpose to one’s life by following a self improvement program.

A self improvement program brings out the true powers of the individual and teaches him how to use his powers positively for his upbringing. A self improvement program helps the person in meeting newer and newer challenges everyday and helps him in grasping new opportunities. It helps him in fulfilling his duties towards himself and his society. It helps him to understand the purpose of his life as each person in the world has to fulfill a purpose in life.

A self improvement program provides inspiration to many through its lessons that should be read everyday. Thousands of people around the world are buying books and subscribing to newsletters for self improvement. The books are professionally written and divided into chapters to be read each and every day. Each chapter consists of a different way to achieve self improvement effectively. One can also get to understand the importance of self awareness by reading the books. Self awareness is fundamental to spiritual and personal growth. With the help of a self improvement program we are able to know what we want in life and how do we fulfill our desires.

Self improvement programs make us break through our limited powers of thinking. They help us see the bigger picture of life and also make us achieve prosperity in life by changing our behavior according to the situations that we face in life. Self improvement is not something that is to be read or practiced one time.

The Benefits Of Self-Improvement

By: Louis Bonaventura

When we look at a certain object, a painting for example – we won’t be able to appreciate what’s in it, what is painted and what else goes with it if the painting is just an inch away from our face. But if we try to take it a little further, we’ll have a clearer vision of the whole work of art.

We reach a point in our lives when we are ready for change. A whole pile of information that will help us unlock our self improvement power becomes evident because we are now searching for something to benefit us.

Until then, something can be staring us right in the face, but we don’t see it. The only time we think of unlocking our self improvement power is when everything goes wrong. For some, it’s not until they hit “rock bottom.”

Take a couple of frogs as an example -

Try placing Frog A in a pot of boiling water. What happens? He twerps! He jumps off! Why; because he is not able to tolerate sudden change in his environment – the water’s temperature.

Now try Frog B: place him in a luke warm water, then turn the gas stove on. Wait until the water reaches a certain boiling point. Frog B then thinks “Ooh … it’s a bit warm in here.”

People are like Frog B in general. Today, Anna thinks Carl hates her. Tomorrow, Patrick walks up to her and told her he hates her. Anna stays the same and doesn’t mind what her friend says.

The next day, she learns that Kim and John also abhor her. Anna doesn’t realize the importance of, and the need for, self improvement until the entire community hates her. But it’s never too late!

We learn our lessons when we experience pain. We finally see the warning signs and signals when things get rough and tough.

When do we realize that we need to change our diet? When none of our jeans and shirts fit us any longer! When do we stop eating candies and chocolates? When all of our teeth have fallen out!

When do we realize that we need to stop smoking? When our lungs have gone bad and we can’t breathe any longer.

When do we pray and ask for help? When we realize that we’re going to die tomorrow.

The only time most of us ever learn about unlocking our self improvement power is when our whole world is crashing and falling apart all around us.

We think and feel this way because it is not easy to accept the fact that we need to change. But change becomes even more painful when we ignore it.

Change will happen, like it or hate it. At one point or another, we are all going to experience different turning points in our lives – and we are all going to eventually unlock our self improvement power. Not because the world says so, not because our friends are nagging us, but because we realized it’s for our own good.

Happy people don’t just accept change, they embrace it. Now, you don’t have to feel the tremendous heat before realizing the need for self improvement.

Unlocking your self improvement power means unlocking yourself from being in the state of mind that “it’s just the way I am.” That is such a poor excuse for people who fear and resist change. Most of us program our minds like computers.

Jen repeatedly tells everyone that she doesn’t have the guts to be around groups of people. She hears her parents, sister, and her teacher state the same things about her to other people.

Over the years, that is what Jen believes. She believes it’s her story and that just “the way I am.” And what happens? Every time a large crowd would come over to their house, in school, or in the community – she tends to step back, shy away and lock herself up in a room. Jen didn’t only believe in her story, she lived it.

Jen has to realize that she is not what she is in her story. Instead of having her story posted on her face for everyone to remember, she has to have the spirit to show people “I am an important person and I should be treated accordingly!”

Self improvement may not be everybody’s favorite word, but if we look at things in a different point of view, we might have a greater chance of enjoying the whole process instead of counting the days until we are fully improved.

Three sessions in a week at the gym would result in a healthier life, reading books instead of watching TV or playing video games will enlighten us with more profound knowledge. Going out with friends and peers will help you take a step back from work and unwind.

Self-Improvement – Something For Everyone

By: Jordi Shoman

Just about everyone in the world can think of something they want to improve about themselves. With some people they may want to achieve more than one improvement. The best way to approach this is to make a list of what is most important to you. It could be something as simple as reading a book to help you improve the work you do or making time for yourself to indulge in reading of your favorite pastime. Once you commit your deepest desires about improving yourself to paper, it seems more attainable.

Start off with a plan. This means setting a goal for yourself. If you wish, you can even set a time limit, such as “I want to be able to walk five km. a day at the end of the summer.” When you start out knowing what it is you want to achieve, then it makes it easier on you to get what you want. There is no point in trying to do everything at once. If you take small steps and reach stages in your self-improvement process in increments, it makes the end result more worthwhile. If you could do it all at once, then it would be too easy and you won’t have the same sense of accomplishment as if it were something that you had to work really hard to get.

In some cases, the type of improvement that you want will necessitate spending money. If you want to become more confident at public speaking, for example, you may have to take classes in this. If you admire a friend of yours that can sew or paint really well and you would like to do this as well, there are many opportunities to take classes at night or on weekends. One thing that you do have to keep in mind is the amount of talent that you have for such a project. It is also something in which you have an interest. If you don’t like it, then you won’t master it.
